Rule of the Month: xC's Rule #7

Last month I made a study of Wishbone's Rule #3, which is to not advance your big stacks to meet the big stacks of your opponents, but to leave them one tier behind. I like this rule; it makes for a more open game, and it leaves me with my traditional "dromedary" percentage profile. The rule allows you to control more territory compared to the number of your dice and increases your dom. But the rule is not to be used beyond the late midgame; then an opponent can counterattack and replace a stack you took with a bigger one.
This month I am making a study of xC's Rule #3, which is to avoid less than a two-dice advantage in the connect phase of the game. This is not an ironclad rule: xC himself recommends even a 2 v 3 if the payoff is big enough. Nor must every 2+ dice advantage be executed. I will give reports from time to time during the month on my evaluation of this rule. |
