The reality of this situation is that the problems with kdice go beyond this month.
While I think you could make a legitimate claim that the "best month" was had by wish, dicey, bomb, myself, or Sam, the fact that it is a source of significant argument speaks to a general state of weakness within the system. If this month had been an exception, I might be inclined to laugh it off, but unfortunately since I've been here I have seen: 1. Teams throwing games to their "champion" 2. The best player in a given month being asked to "tank" and hand off the win to someone else. 3. A player who got impugned in the forums inexplicably being given all the points of the offending party, thereby ruining the month of someone who was in no way at fault. 4. People buying first place. 5. A complete lack of consistency among the rules such that one set of players is punished for impolite play, and another set of players is rewarded for even worse play. To top it all off, it's all been peppered by some of the worst examples of human behavior I've ever been witness to. It just goes to prove that human beings will literally fight over nothing if that's all they've got. Well, kdice, it's been fun. I've given this relationship what I could, but in the end there's just too much baggage for me to enjoy a part of my life that I want to use to relax. I'm off to find, or make, some other competition that's legitimate, and even more importantly fun. And I know, from first hand discussions, that a number of the best players in this game feel the same way. I am sure there will be plenty of "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" types of responses. That's fine, you're welcome to your "America, love it or leave it" attitude, and I will shrug and shake my head. Perhaps when a group of people isn't satisfied with a community the best thing that can be done is for everyone to part ways amicably and move on with their lives, but I for one am always saddened at this sort of thing. It's hard enough to build up a fun online game community, and when a large group of the best players leaves en masse it always hurts both the game itself and those players. But so be it. The time has come. Goodbye. (Puts on invisible ring). |

at 3:38 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT I'm not "dissing" you Pat. I've never had a problem with you, and saying that Ryan should never have altered the points the way he did is just a statement of opinion about Ryan's actions, not anything to do with you.
And, I could care less about getting a bronze medal. Outside of maybe replying to a couple of things in the forums over the next day or so and maybe popping into rooms to chat, I will not be playing anymore. |
