So I was in a match with someone who said if he had a 5 stack and attacked an enemy 5 stack, he would have a 49% chance of winning, so it was worth it. I guess he figured, since the two stacks were the same size, it would be a 50/50 shot, but since ties go to the defender, it made a 49% chance.
Well, that didn't sit right with me, and I'd been thinking about it myself for awhile, so I decided to do the math myself. (hope this hasn't been posted...) # of dice||Chance of winning ---------------------------- 2 vs 2 = 45.83333% 3 vs 3 = 47.22222% 4 vs 4 = 47.91667% 5 vs 5 = 48.33333% 6 vs 6 = 48.61111% 7 vs 7 = 48.80952% 8 vs 8 = 48.95833% So thats it. The more dice you and your opponent stack have (assuming they're both the same number) the better your chance of winning. So you have a better shot of winning an 8v8 roll than a 2v2 roll. Its not any big bombshell, but worth knowing. If any one cares, I've been thinking about making a calculator that lets you enter both your stack size, and your opponent size, and it'll give you your win percentage. ...And knowing is half the battle! If you roll a 2v2 you risk just one dice but if you lose a 8v8 you lose 7 dice. Yes, it's a greater risk for your enemy as well but until the game gets to the heads up you can leave the risk to someone else.
