BJ where would you ever get the idea of ME helping Pat???

I liked and agreed with most what you said, but seriously why do you say that I helped him?

If I play I play for me that is why I get top ten but never top 1.

Hardly worth a post but I think pple would stop reading Pats.

You know me better then that BJ, shame on you!

I agree with Sserg, it is not like him to do this.

I was shocked myself to see it from Ssergio, I didnt think he supported Pat. Maybe its my own interpretation, but let me explain what I saw:

Early on in the game Ssergio had a very strong build, owning the bottom of the map, maybe 10 teritories. Pat was just above him with maybe 3 territories. After several rounds of the northern part of the map fighting it out, they grew to mostly 8 stacks, including Pat's 3 territories. When the opportuniy came, Pat moved north and aquired a lot of land, maybe 10 territories, leaving his border with Ssergio very weak, 1, 2, and 3 stacks, his tall stacks all on his north border leaving the south border with Sserg very weak, much with no way to fightback with his big stacks if Sserg moved in. Instead of Sserg moving into the free land Pat left behind, Sserg just sat on his +32 dice and asked Pat to flag which he wouldn't. Pat said in the chat box, "No, I am going for first" Sserg seemed to wait until The rest of the map died and asked again for Pat to flag when Pat just started attacking Sserg. At this point Pat was in 1st place but his usual shitty luck made him lose most of his 8v8 rolls with Sserg and eventually had no choice but to flag 2nd. What I'm saying is Sserg let Pat grow his little 2 and 3 stacks late in the game, when Pat should have had a 5th or 6th place finish.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this, I've watched month's ends many times. They usually follow the same trend. The top 2 ranked spots battle it out for 1st. It usually comes down to who has gained the most respect during the month. I experienced this first hand in August when I led most of the month with 1st, it came down to the last few days when Mikeypoo had a lot of support, and well gained respect, much more than I had. That is why he passed me into 1st the last hour of the month. I didn't bitch about it, I accepted it because I knew he had gained a lot of people's respect which is a big aspect of the game.

Many top players pick sides and give up opportunities to the person they like better. Lots of times the top 2 players dont have a choice if someone is "PGA" with them because of this reason. Pat bitched about a game I was in where I didnt attack Chris (much like the example with Sserg above). Since the beginning of the game, Chris WAS attacking me, he even politely asked me if he could connect which I said "sure". Was it his fault I was not attacking him? No, Chris has no control over my actions. He didn't ask me to help him, I chose to stay put on my own. I also chose not to retaliate when he attacked. When it got down to 2 players in the game Chris again asked me to flag, practically begging at this point and attacking me every turn. If this was wrong for me to do, I think I should be penalized not Chris. The outcome of that game had nothing to do with Chris' action but people he had no control over. After a 2nd game, Chris stopped playing... Maybe because he noticed preferential treatment he wasn't comfortable with.

Maybe Pat had no PGA, maybe Chris had no PGA, but maybe they both had preferrential treatment that they couldnt control with anything but the respect and/or disrespect they gained throughout the month.

If Sserg had picked Pat Whalen to be his choice for 1st place, I have no problem with that. I'm sorry for making you feel like I was pointing fingers at you Sserg, I have a lot of respect for you and didn't mean any disrespect.

I don't think Chris should be penalized because he earned more respect, I think it really came down to Pat gaining more enemies than anything else. I barely know Chris, and haven't really played many games with him. For my choice it was more like who I like the least, much like when you vote for a candidate not because you want him to win, but because you want the other one to lose.

Maybe portions of this post should be in a new thread to see how much respect each of the candidates had over the other. Would be interesting to see.

...since that is almost always what determines the winner of the month.

What you saw is me liking the good fight and just battling it out with a truced player in the end.

What you saw was PAT having no honour after my reasonable request to flag (end of the monthgitis) and me having the better position.

What you saw was me gambling on a higher domination in the endgame.

What you prolly saw was me making a mistake.

What you definitely saw was ME taking the win.

Sometimes I think it is fair to let your trucebuddy build for the endgame, sometimes I kill em all!

I wasn't supporting Pat or anybody else last month, but I really didn't care if I would lose 100 points more or less (funfact: beat wish with 200) a blue medal = a blue medal in my book.

Case closed is what I say.

Peace BJ

WOW BJ you really are dumb, either that or your attempting to make something out of nothing to justify your actions. But either way, what went on between me and Sserg was a two way truce in game. What occurred between you Chris Bone_Roller and one other (cant remember their name) was a collusion of four players to throw another player as many points as possible including dom, while you yelled at anyone who attacked chris. The fact that me and Sserg fought it out in the endgame (ending with him winning) is enough to disprove your ridiculous accusations. If he was attempting to boost me into first, i would assume he would give me the extra 2k for first as-well instead of fighting, winning, and taking first himself.

I have to say that I am very tired of this whole topic. Yes, the game with Chris occurred, but it was not a premeditated scheme, at least not on my part. I was actually in a good position to win, but Fin and BJ asked me to be nice to Chris. Given that I felt I owed both of them favors for kind treatment in other games, I went along with it. I still ended up with 600 points or so for 3rd, which was fine as far as I was concerned.
As far as being motivated to help Chris, I really didn't care. I haven't played all that much with him. I also didn't have any motivation to hurt Pat. People who know me will acknowledge that I will sacrifice my own points to repay obligations that I feel I owe to other players. In this case, Chris benefited from that sense of obligation, even though he was not the person or persons to whom I felt obligated. I don't know what motivated the other players, nor do I care. I also don't believe that what happened in that game is materially different from what happens in hundreds or thousands of games each month. The only difference was the timing.

What I do believe is that it was a travesty for Ryan to arbitrarily give Pat roughly 2000 extra points to secure him the win. Those points were deducted from Cambria's account and transferred to Pat, ostensibly to punish Cambria for creating the Pat Whaien alt and posting a meanspirited thread. Penalizing Cambria for that activity is one thing, but giving those points to Pat is something completely different. Did Pat deserve to win March? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on your perspective. But the fact is that without the off the field donation of points by Ryan, he would not have come in first.

Chris lost 1st because he is too nice of a person. Serves him right for not spreading hatred through the site. He would have won the month if he made more enemies. The Good guy finishes last (or in this case 2nd). Congrats Pat.
