thoughts about the score

I wonder if the scoring system can be improved. Quite often you get a lousy start and get eliminated quickly without being able to do much, losing a lot of points. Could there be a way that this early finish will not cost so much?
Just a thought. It would be nice to know what you all think about it.

raf, true it's not fun to have a lousy start.

The solution to that problem is to play more than 1 game. If there is a game where you have a great start, there probably is someone else in that game that has a lousy start. Of course ideally, in every game, everyone should have a minimal chance for a top3 finish. Due to the randomness that is not always the case but overall - if you play 25 games- you should get a good balance of good/ average/bad starts. What you do with those starts is up to your skills.

In fact this is what kdice points are all about: don't lose too much points when you have a bad start, get unlucky rolls or get attacked by everyone <--> get as much points as possible from the games where you get a good start, get lucky defences or where everybody seems to forget about you growing.

If you try to limit the point loss when you get bad starts, it will also mean you will win less points if you win a game (and I strongly oppose to that).

My advise: forget about those few games with awful starts, just enjoy the ones where you live longer than second turn.

P.S. stop kicking hatty into the icecold water

should fix the lousy start problem instead. why can't the start be more fair?

please define what to fix.

I have seen a game where someone had a 5, a 4 a 3 and a 1 land connected being 4th to start and when it was his turn there was only the 3 (!!!!) stack left.

If people 4v5 or 5v5 you in round 1,that's unfair too but where do you stop fixing the unfairness of round1?

these bad starts are not fun I know but at the end of the month it's not those that will determine your score you know. I still think those bad starts can't be a reason not to enjoy kdice as a whole. It really just happens once in a while, you simply can't expect to get good starts every game. In theory, there are 7 players with equal chances for a good/bad start. If everybody is supposed to get a good start it also means everybody is having a bad start because of the other players also having a good start.

So randomness is GOOD

if you think about it, losing 8v6 is not such a bad thing after all because it also means you can defend a 8v6 as well.

I think the best way to solve this problem is simple. Three letters - PGA! If you have some trusty friends at the table they will allow u to grow from your miserable start or at the very least MSAK!!

Err I mean, improve in your "social" aspect of the game so that people won't ruin your terrible start ;)

Ask RND, leekstep or monte they can tell you more about how to improve this strat.
