I like it when flag meant game over. You get screwed, you can flag and leave without worrying about score getting lower. Now, you could be fighting for first and a guy who's playing mediocre can get second for a turn and flag. That makes first place want to turn his attention to you only. it usually results in a 1-2 truce, which is, by nature, extremely boring.

I guess it's smart (yet not fun) for the guy in first place and the coward. Many are looking for points more than first place finishes. It's more frustrating to those who use flags and truces as last resorts. I do remember Ryan stating a long time ago that the game rewarded those who did 2-3 truces against 1st place, but the new rules don't exactly encourage the 2-3 truce. It seems there's a bit of wishy-washiness.

If you stretch yourself out really far to nab second, then you are really not playing well...However, flagging is rarely used in the begging sense, and if the person in first gives second to a weak person, then it's the leaders fault. If I'm leading and someone does that, then I just grab all their weak territories. It's really easy, and you get a lot stronger without doing any work :P

I'm talking later in the game when three are more are strong. I think everyone has a desire to attack that guy who spreads out and provides a trail.

Yeah, it seems that one who is in a mediocre 2nd place flags early in an attempt to secure 2nd without having to compete.

Nice try, but I think it was better when flagging meant instant exit from the game. The bitching and whining has returned. I've seen 2nd place landlocking first and second bitching when first takes a piece to get out.

But let this be a lesson. Even if one flags for 2, unless they are trustworthy, never give anyone the jump on you (i.e. access to a one move cut). Even if they whine like brats.

The current flagging system is used almost exclusively by players trying to hold on to a place they couldn't get otherwise. The number of times I see a player whining "<insert color here> WTF? I'm flagged." with mostly 2 stacks is unreal. Which to me is just plain cheating.

The current flagging system is beyond worthless and needs to be completely scrapped. It should go back to a "take me out of the game immediately" button.

Should make it so that you can only flag for 2nd if you have been 2nd or better for 3 turns a row. Would prevent alot of stupid flags. Same for the other positions obviously.

What was the reason for changing the flagging system when it took you out automatically without begging for a certain place anyway? I don't remember seeing the reason.

New month, same story. Flagging for second is still just codeword for "let's do a 1-2 truce." Yawn.

The biggest problem with flagging now is : it destroys the end game, which used to be the most satisfying part. Ahhhh, end game knock down drag out battles to the death, why did you leave us?
