Why is increased starting dice variance a good idea again?

Starting a game with four territories and eight dice isn't an interesting challenge, it's a death sentence. You get five rounds if you're lucky. I sat at a table today where dice allocation was, from 1st player to seventh:

11, 11, 11, 11, 8, 9, 9

There were four players left after four rounds. Can you guess which ones? This time I was the unlucky 8-die player. I've completely pwnd everyone in games where I was the 13-die player with the next person starting with 11. I don't feel like I earned either the victories or the losses.

Yes, this is partially a game of luck. Yes, starting placement always affects how well you play. But dooming utterly three of seven players before the game has begun seems... I don't know... lame. I personally like the skill aspect of the game. I enjoy games in which I'm beaten by a clever opponent much more than those in which I win because some smacktard tries three 5v5s against me in the eighth round and flags out.

if you saw this its a bug because it shouldn't happen. If the first four players have an extra territory they should have one extra dice. The last two players also have one extra dice. So it should look like this:

9,9,9,9,8,9,9

I'll watch this. Post if you notice more.
