abishai, River Dragon, Digitalpain, (possibly Max Syfax)

500 game on kamikaze Mike.

abishai = 1st (over 12 land)
me = 2nd (9)
Max Syfax = 3rd (4, two groups of 2 on either side of the map)
River Dragon = 4th (2)
Digitalpain = 5th (1)

- i was quite happy with my 2nd place, so i flagged up and announced it to abishai (as i usually do so that people notice that i've flagged).
- he persists on attacking though i've said that i'm not a threat.
- i finally start attacking back once i'm down to 5 territories.
- eventually i give up and end up flagging 5th.
- all the while, Max Syfax is @ 4+21 or something and *still* doesn't attack Digitalpain despite the fact that knocking him out would guarantee him more points.

once i'm gone green eventually flags out leaving abishai with a huge lead (20 vs two guys with 2 or 3 land each) and a massive Dom score. the two small guys then start eating little pieces of abishai. he allows himself to get cut and doesn't make any attempts to attack them or to reconnect, despite the fact that he's +15something in dice. eventually they all end up with 9 lands each (thus redistributing abishai's Dom points), by which point they all flagged and pocketed 200+ points each.

avoid at all costs.

for shits and giggles, i observed them do it again in the next game in that room. a player named knightfork ended up 5th; he noticed that abishai, River Dragon, Digitalpain and Max Syfax never attacked each other until they were in spots 1, 2, 3 and 4 (except for at the beginning when they were making their connecctions). River Dragon in fact had two equal sized masses on either side of the map, separated by abishai and abishai never attacked despite the fact that a) abishai was 8+9 and b) River Dragon's western end wasn't anywhere near being full 8's.
