my view of KDice and where the GAME is moving to

at 1:40 PM, Tuesday January 8, 2008 EST Where is KDice moving to? A little history from my point of view. Very-very long ago once upon a time there was Ryan who decided to build THE GAME. And that Ryan decided to name this GAME to be KDice. That Ryan issued a call to his FRIENDS: "Hey my MIGHTY FRIENDS, lets we build the GAME" And so they began to work. Sooner or later the job was done and THE GAME was build. And Ryan gave the GAME the name KDice as he decided. Inasmuch as noone knew what kind of game should be KDice - the GAME so happened to be shaped quite the cheese. Excellent game with very strong social constituent. Kdice arrived to be EXCELLENT SIMULATOR OF OUR REAL LIFE. We have friends in life - We have friends in KDice. We have people who can be trusted in life - We have people who can be trusted in KDice. We have people who recompense good with good in life - We have such people in KDice. Love and hatred. Honest policy and dirty policy. Truth and lie. Smarts and idiots. Alliances and anti-alliances. I cannot list that as whole. Its impossible. Kdice had that all what we have in real life. And by the highest standards we have nothing in real life what we hadn't in KDice. We HAD that all in the GAME. HAD. Why "HAD" ? Because HAD. That all belongs to the times when game began. Then there came a time when Ryan began to improve the GAME. Certainly to improve the GAME - is very good job. But when SOCIAL GAME lose its social constituents - this is very very bad. KDice lately lost a lot of social constituent. Now many players ask: where are girls here in kdice? Why did our best players-girls quit playing last time? I can answer you: Women are not so interested in technical constituend of KDice as they are interested in KDice's social constituent. Women are not so interested in achievements as men are. Women are not so interested in "kill all and become 1st" as they are interested in relarions in process of game. They are more interested in emotions, sences, feelings than we men are. The fact that girls leave our game is just first bell ring. The GAME lose is losing its social constituent. What do do? I dint know exactly. But its obvious for me: that GAME MUST NOT DECIDE instead of me to whom can I trust and to whom cant I trust. and when must I flag. The game MUST NOT decide instead of me can I wait and then hit or cannot. Why does it auto-flag me if i want to hide a little and then kill my enemy and help my friend? There are a lot of reasons why the system MUST NOT DECIDE instead of me. Some of last technical improvemets unfortunately were directed to "technical" solution of "social" problems. Thats why Kdice is losing very much its social constituent. |

at 2:10 PM, Tuesday January 8, 2008 EST Well Mike, good story. I kinda agree you with some parts of your post, sometimes I miss the old ELO time and his social dynamics, but some of the improvements are making the game funnier to play.
Clear comments on the profiles, taglines or country flags doesn't help the "social constituent", but the favourite players list at the left side of the sreen, the public player notes or the votes goes on the right way. After the playing the game 4,5 months in the post-elo age: - I have a lot of new friends that weren't old 2K players. - I'm meeting interesting people daily. - I'm enjoying pretty much the in-game experience. Anyhow, I miss some k-ladies too.... |

But seriously, I miss Dicey, Sarah and Stacy as well. kdice is worse off without them. |

at 2:57 PM, Tuesday January 8, 2008 EST u really touched some points, mike, but its still fun playing here, i think.
it´s more easy gaining points now or maybe its harder to lose them, which prob attracts new players. (social+) but it also destroys a bit the former "high standard of a playing" and forces a more aggressiv style (social -). but everything changes and need to be in progress, i think - like in real life! sometimes its hard to become familiar with the changes... and so i really like it, to be a small part of a community who´s in motion and (re)forms itself through thoughts like these thread. and maybe its like a really good woman said once (it wasnt a kladie ;) : "all will be better - nothing will be good!" |
