Thoughts on new kdice

Lets discuss the new kdice version.
I'll try to get it out for Jan 1 with some changes: - the look will be closer to the current kdice. - the chat box will be put back to normal. I'm hoping to leave the flagging change in since it helps solve the problem with the last player not wanting to flag (this happens because last knows that others can flag for last and waits for that). The flagging is more like the old flagging but without the ninja flag problem. The strategy with the new flagging is that you can flag to single to a stronger player that you're not a threat. You're flagged at your current position, for example 2nd, and you can't place better. You'll be automatically knocked out when in this case there are only 2 players left. This also means the player in 3rd knows that you can't flag for third and will more likely opt to flag. Consequently, the player in first will attack 3rd knowing that 2nd isn't a threat. And since point farming is gone there is no motivation to attack second. Thoughts? |

at 2:18 PM, Wednesday December 19, 2007 EST I really like the new flagging concept, Ryan. I think it keeps the positives while removing some of the negatives. I can't really see how it could be any worse.
Will we have a new forum as well? |

so if a person suicides out to expand crazily to 2nd place (10 territories with 10 dice, lets say), then hits the flag while in 2nd... that still means that the rest can whoop his ass, and he will lose dom points? or does he keep all dom points once he flags? |

at 3:12 PM, Wednesday December 19, 2007 EST He can flag for second and still be knocked out 7th. Since dom is measured at the start of your turn and not the end this type of expansion does not give you dom points since you can't maintain the size. The end result is flagging for 2nd did nothing except draw attention to the player.

at 3:16 PM, Wednesday December 19, 2007 EST honestly I can't say I like it, seems like there's gonna be more whining ala "i'm flagged don't attack me", like in elo days.
good for the new tables thing, but also some sort of cap like you have on the zero tables. like say 250s can't play 0s 500s can't play 10s etc... or something of the sort? Also fixing the table naming? lol. |
