Domination not so important?

So there was the usual setup of 3 players with 2v1 without a truce. I had around 10 terrs with 30 dices in stack, blue had 12 with 30 dices and purple had 8 with no dices. Sadly, I was the lone one so my only chances turned out to be to kill the weaker one of those two, purple. I managed to bring him down to 4 territories but then I got separated from him by blue. I tried to rejoin him but to no avail. So I decided to fight for several more turns so I could laugh at purple when he gets a 2nd place for less points than he would get if he flagged for 3rd. This never happened though. I watched his score and during roughly 10 turns of having 4 territories (which is 6 less than average dom) he dropped by only 2 points in score. The sad point is that this brings back those days of small players being protected by a strong player waiting for others to flag so they would end second.
I'm not complaining or anything, I would have done the same thing if I were in their place so I'm cool with how they acted. I'm not cool with the system that doesn't penalize players with poor dom though. This being said, I have to state that I liked the first type of the new version (the one from the test server) better and the latest change was a step back in my eyes. Constructive criticism only, please. |
