upping the ante

Currely we have this:

min: 0/10, 100, 500, 2500
ante: 2, 4, 20, 100

Where min is the table minimum and ante is the ante per round. Things are a little bit too stable. I'd like the scoring to be more dramatic. So I'd like to up the ante and lower the table minimums to this:

min: 0/10, 200, 1000, 5000
ante: 4, 20, 100, 500

With this points will be introduced into the system faster, (current points will be devalued somewhat). You can also play higher risk games quicker. This will let you get a high score quicker if you're winning games.

Thoughts?

i think changing the antes/minimums is a good idea, but based on the fact that "current points will be devalued somewhat", could the change wait until October?

I agree with 5er. I think that it should wait until the end of the month because it has a rather significant impact on the outcome of the games.

I third that.
It's a great idea.

I think this should be an October upgrade -- as a community we have had a lot of change this month... adding point devaluation would be discouraging to those learning the new system.

Count me in on this one - I think a change in ante will not only get the higher tables open quicker, it 'should' encourage those with enough of a score to take a chance at the tables that they qualify for.

Ryan,

You may end up with an enormous cutpoint problem.

Players moving up a level are unlikely to have enough points to "gamble" with. You might even see the players with higher points closing ranks to squeeze the lower players back down a level. Sounds familiar?!

When a player goes up a level, it would be good to find a way teasing out the better ones form the lucky ones.

Ok, I'm going to wait until Oct for this change.

However I'm going to move the table minimums down tonight since the top ones are too high. You'll see this tonight or tomorrow:

min: 0/10, 100, 400, 1600
ante: 2, 4, 16, 64

Can I persuade you about the threshold effect?

Will the loss limit change as well? I imagine with an ante of 64 a round you can get to -15 pretty close to immediately with a slow start.
