no more late comebacks?

I understand the idea of killing off players with a score of -15, to prevent them from turtling with one 8-stack and steal second place, but I have an issue with it's implementation. Gone is the strategy of capitalizing on others' mistakes late in the game, as it's usually too late. Anyone else get what I'm trying to say?

You shouldnt be able to comeback with 1 8 stack, thus why the system extremely discourages it.

I'm not talking about coming back with one stack... I'm talking about when you finally start to build up, if you're too late, you're SOL. As in, you can end up getting 3rd, with a good number of territories, but still lose a large chunck of points... more often so than before, at any rate.

I have noticed a couple times when the players getting 2nd or 3rd actually lose points even though they played a decent game. I guess it's just because they don't know when to surrender and eventually people will learn.

no more come backs unless you truce with the #1 which is highly unlikely

The way I see it, if you're in the lead, your desire is to keep the weakest player in the game the longest, to maximize points.

If you're not in the lead, your desire is to take out your closest competition.

So... late comebacks are still very possible provided first place is able to protect/truce a weak player.

If you're honest enough, you can offer the weaker opponent 1st place, thereby splitting the spoils evenly...

I once came back from two 8-stacks to win on the test server. 15 seems like a good number to me.
