Fixing dom

I like a lot about the new system. I think a lot of people do. But dom -- particularly late-game dom -- is an endless source of frustration.
You get games where 2nd and 3rd fight for 10 turns. 2nd is at +2 flag, 3rd at -2, 1st at +10. 3rd has only a weak incentive to flag. If he holds out, he may get lucky. Also if he holds out, he may convince 2nd to flag first. You get these long, drawn-out games of chicken, which end when the two cars collide and everyone loses (except the 1st place guy). And it's worse, if possible, if there's a standoff between 2, 3, and 4. These are worse than the old system of ninjas. Ninjas were sometimes fun, sometimes annoying. Playing chicken with #3 and watching both your scores slowly go into the toilet? That just sucks. Two ways to potentially fix it: 1. Institute a dom cap. At some point, first maxes out, and then doesn't sit and encourage 2 and 3 to fight forever. (A negative dom cap would work too). 2. Diminishing dom. Perhaps 1 per turn for the 1st ten rounds, then 1 per 2 turns for the next ten, then 1 per three turns, etc. There are probably other options as well. |

at 8:04 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT A better option for 2nd and 3rd would have to team up and take down 1st. If second and 3rd arefighting each either half their Ante for DOM is going straight to the 1st place guy while they make no progress. If 2nd and 3rd make no progrss they need to flag. The idea of the scoring system and to reward players who are agressive and take risks. If you cannot improve you position any longer you going to start losing points to players who can.

I don't think it's a solution and it will only contribute to make the game more chaotic than it is already. DOM capping must be adressed because in the wrong hand(s), it could be abused. Plus the leader doesn't deserve all this DOM when all he do is watch 2-3 fight for 2nd |

at 1:11 AM, Wednesday September 5, 2007 EDT in that case the best way for 2nd and 3rd is to decide who's gonna flag first by paper scissor rock.
2nd : paper! 3rd : scissor! ok this not work. they should decide using dice rolls. one of them attack anywhere and both remember the first dice roll and then the other one also attack anywhere and compare the two's first dice rolls, if 2nd rolls 3vs2 : 3 2 1 vs 1 6 and 3rd rolls 6 vs 5 : 4 1 1 1 6 6 vs 1 2 5 3 4. then 3rd wins and 2nd should flag because 2nd got 3 and 3rd got 4. |

at 1:18 AM, Wednesday September 5, 2007 EDT they don't even have to compare their own dice rolls. to make it quicker, they can compare other's dice rolls. For example
2nd : i choose kekeke's first dice roll. 3nd : i choose kekeke's second dice roll. kekeke roll : 6 vs 6 - 3 1 6 4 2 vs 5 3 4 2 1 2nd : i got 3 and u got 1. u gotta flag. |

at 1:19 AM, Wednesday September 5, 2007 EDT I agree with this.
Being held hostage while in 2nd by 3rd is really really annoying. Especially when first intentionally drags it out by trying to keep both sides reasonably even. |
