why should one fight - you only lose points

i'm what they call 'a fighter' - all i can say is that the new scoring system sucks - how boring - if you want to fight you lose points, even in 2nd position (but scared pussies in 6th position do) - if it was your purpose to transform a fantastic game into a dull and boring game, then your mission has succeeded

at 7:31 PM, Saturday September 1, 2007 EDT If you are talking about a second place person taking on first place 1v1, then you are wrong. The points changed are so miniscule that if a person is actually 'a fighter', then they would fight it out anyway just to fight it out.

at 10:06 PM, Saturday September 1, 2007 EDT You are correct mozzer, fighting is almost always a mistake.
Imagine a scenario where there are three players (12 territories, 9 territories, 6 territories): If you are second, and you challenge the leader... then you risk losing placement to third place. You pretty much guarantee points if you can get third place to flag. And even if you do ally with third to overtake the leader, there's no guarantee you will finish in first over your ally. You should attack third place. If you are in third place, you will bleed away points every round, so even if you team up with #2 and manage to overtake the leader, you will have lost so many points that you still finish negative. If you are in first place, you just want the game to go on forever, so you attack nobody. as long as the other two are fighting, then you get more points. So basically, in every scenario the best thing for you to do is NOT FIGHT. Just attack the smallest guy and hope he flags early. The scoring has little to do with how much land you have, what place you finish, it just rewards you for flagging at the right time. Basically get a lucky start and hope nobody flags. Otherwise flag out as soon as you can't grow anymore. Competition is not rewarded in the new system. |
