at 10:44 AM, Monday August 27, 2007 EDT I think the best way to tell is to look at some of the 2000 players' records. It took me about 2 months. Back then, there were some 1700 and 1900 tables which made it a little easier. Your method of game play makes a huge difference. This game is not based soley on luck, it has a lot to do with diplomacy. If you are close to being over to the next level, you have to play carefully, because a big loss will make you lose a lot of points.
Being fair and nice to other players makes a big difference, if you express your concern with some players about how you are so close amd want to "try to make it to 1800" and you are at 1790. If you get a really bad start and dont have a good chance to get 1st 2nd or 3rd place, dont try to make a position in the current game, cut your losses and plead with them to "let" you get 5th place instead of 7th. There is usually an ass at every game that most people would rather see eliminated first. Tell them you only want 4th or 5th place and accept it. The loss wont hurt you so much. If you get frustrated and try to "out luck" them with dangerous moves, you will just lose more points. |

at 12:49 PM, Monday August 27, 2007 EDT I played for about 3 months before I ever got there, but the day I got there I went from around 1500 to 2k in one day. A 278 rating gain. So its possible to do it in a day.
