Yep, see the other posts about test server and new game. FAR harder to really get screwed in that game, since you're master of your own destiny... you can actually resign at any time after the 3rd round, and keep whatever points you have, or limit the damage. I haven't played enough to prove it, but it should make the leveling up problem a thing of the past, because you don't have to lose 50 points for 7th, if you are high score on the table. A lot of the bigwigs are over there... check it out.

I agree completely about leveling up, but it can in fact be done rather raliably by patient, conservative play when you're at 1999, for instance.

True, a bad draw can screw you, but you just have to adjust your playing style to get over the hump. Basically, you have to get 1st, 2nd, or maybe 3rd (if you are very lucky) to gain points as high man on the table.

Agree about it being easier to play at 2050 than 1950 as well. That's why folks tend to be friendly at the top, so they don't get knocked down as easily.
