That's ridiculous. The basic skills are all the same. There was another thread asking just this question which there are several good answers to. I just don't know how to dig up that thread.

i read that thread. all that was said was pretty...obvious. like, stuff that should be obvious to you the first time you play.

actually, there was one thing that was said that kinda confused me. something akin to pay attention to the numbers on top of the dice....do they really mean anything?

Learn basic strategy, learn the odds, consider risk vs benefit situations, and play lots.

To win:
keep an eye on the ones that have more dice then you. In the first rounds dice are more important then lands. The one with most dice is the one that will be able to establish a stable empire.

If needed, cut early, take that chance.

Don't be scared. If you wait to long because you feel threatened by another player, the game is lost.
You might get second, third, fourth. But never first. And first is all that matters.

Easiest to learn, and very valuable: Stay out of other's way. Or just defend if they try to cut swaths in your territory. But then again, you have no control over that.
