at 8:52 AM, Sunday July 8, 2007 EDT I think what Kocaar is asking about is grabbing somebody's IP address from the game then attacking their IP with some sort of DoS with the intent of causing lag for just that player. He mentioned it during a game we played last night.
To me it sounded possible but implausible. It all comes down to whether there is any p2p (player to player, in this case) traffic during the game or if it all goes through the server. If all traffic goes through the server, I don't know how your IP address would be exposed to other players. I suppose I could load up ethereal to figure it out, but that is a little too much like my day job to do for a game. |

at 9:29 AM, Monday July 9, 2007 EDT Ethereal will not help you. You're likely behind a NAT and a Firewall, not to mention all traffic goes to the server. I think that trifecta will stop you from knowing the IP of another player.
