For God's Sake... Let's Define what a "Flag" means!!!

I have had one too many bad encounters with people and flags...

In my opinion, a flag means nothing more or less then "I am willing to surrender at this point".

But people seem to think it is an honor code thing that you can't take a flag off and you can't attack a flagged player... what happened to kDice as a "war game"?

maybe i am wrong... thoughts?...

Nowadays I see a flag as someone that's given up on the current game. It is usually best to take them out as soon as possible because unless they go away/leave the table, they are probably just building up 1 8-stack to wreck through you (being 1st) when you are somewhat weak.

Every time I let a person that's flagged live they end up screwing me over hard and a lot of times end up getting a higher place than me. GG.

People who care about flag definitions should just kill off the unflagged so the game shall end with no worries.

People who don't like flags are usually just complaining even though they would've finished the same if flags didn't exist.

Ok, well, flags exist for a reason. When i flag, I want to send a signal to all other players saying : "I'm fine with where I am, and I would be grateful and happy if I ended with what I have."

I want those points for the work I've done. If I get eliminated, I lose points. I think my general idea of a flag is a points protection system. I'm confused as to where people thought a white flag meant to attack them. in a war, if you see a white flag, you stop attacking. You don't keep on attacking them to just get rid of them for convenience.

The only difficulty is that you need everyone to flag.

No need to define it beyond what it actually does, end the game if everyone else flags. Never assume what any flagged players intentions are. It's all part of the nature of a social game, so get over it.

too many ideas of what flagging is... just play :)

imo you flag to get the game finished faster, if everyone else flags its game over or if the unflagged people die game is over faster.

Too many people flag and still fight though, same thing if a person is flagged and someone attacks them they should be able to attack back.

Flagging is only to whoever finishes first. The only 'rule' should be if you are flagged you can't attack whoever is winning the game

So flagging is a bit like trucing with first? you get not attacked by the first and when you are strong enough, you can rejoin the game and screw everyone who was playing and fighting for his existenz all the time.

I'm not talking about defending the territories you earned before you flag and could reasonably defend if the first wasnt so strong, I'm talking about attacking the one who left you alone all the time and did their best to fight the first or eachother.

There is a definite trucing element, either w/ your neighbor or w/ the 1st player, when flagging.

I don't think flag chicanery is a problem. In fact, I hope enough players learn from their mistakes to ask what the other guy's intentions of flagging are.

If you play long enough, you get to learn who the liars are.
