could someone tell me why i have -9 for fifth and captainLAGER -8 for sixth, while he had better ELO then me to start with?
captainLAGER surrenders and finishes 6th. Rank: 149th Rating: -16 1985. (-8 for 6th and -8 for dominance) captainLAGER stands up braINsane surrenders and finishes 5th. Rank: 99th Rating: -19 1978. (-9 for 5th and -10 for dominance) braINsane stands up I always tought the score for place was based on the mean ELO rating of the table. Like this, there must be another kind of influence. brain |

at 12:35 PM, Wednesday May 2, 2007 EDT The only explanation i can come up with for this is this:
either you or captainLAGER started the game when a previous game wasn't fully complete. for example, you were down to one territory and left the game to start a new game. When you start a new game your estimated ELO outcome is calculated using your current ELO score. Then the other game would finish and your ELO would change. The end calcuation for ELO does not account for the ELO change that occured during the other game, although when it adds the change it adds to the current ELO. Confused? For example, you're at 2020 in another game, you're in last, you leave and start a new game. The new game calculates your estimate place based on 2020 rating. Then you get knocked out of the other game down to 1997. When you get your ELO adjusted for the current game it is more negative than captainLAGER because your ELO was higher at the start. |

at 12:53 PM, Wednesday May 2, 2007 EDT ok, thx.
but since i'm pretty sure i didn't join the game with another game hanging, cause i played the previous on the same table, It must be that captainLAGER had another game hanging where he gained rank... that is possible but not really likely i think. |
