Below are the top 25 contenders arranged by TAPL. The TAPL's are for this month's data only.

Incidentally, monthly TAPL's can't be added. You can't get your overall TAPL from the weighted average of your monthly TAPL's. You have to compute the weighted average of your seven percentages and calculated the TAPL from that, using your grand total of games.

How is it calculated again? What does it stand for as well? I want to check JDizzle's TAPL

The TAPL (Test Against Pure Luck)is a goodness of fit test (see Wikipedia on "goodness of fit test") of your actual number of finishes at each level (first, second, third, etc) versus the expected number if results were because of pure luck. It the square of the difference between actual versus expected number of game, divided by the expected number of games, summed over the seven levels of finish, multiplied by 100.

For example, at the time you made your post, your number of 1sts, 2nds, 3rds, etc. was 2-1-0-3-1-2-2 for a total of 11 games. Pure luck for ll games would suggest 11/7, or 1.57 per level. Your TAPL would be (2-1.57)squared/1.57 + (1-1.57)squared/1.57 + (0-1.57)squared/1.57 + ...... + (2-1.57)squared/1.57, all multiplied by 100, or about 618.

Since Ryan posts the profiles by percentages instead of number of games, you can use the percentages in the calculation and multiply the result by the number of games.

When the expected number of results is less than 5 in any category, a correction called Yate's Correction needs to be used. This would be the case for any player whose total number of games is less than 35. So in your case, your TAPL is somewhat overstated, but a player with less than 35 games would be considered a newbie and not a serious contender yet.

The TAPL is my idea and has no official endorsement from Ryan.

Chivas: Yes. Maybe you are spending too much time with your avatar.

JDizzle: I can't count very well. Your profile was 2-1-0-3-2-3-0. I used percentages to calculate the TAPL. Ryan rounds off percentages, so they are usually a little off.
