In looking at the shapes of the 1st-through-7th place finish profiles of different kinds of kdice players, I have thought of names for each type:
1. The Sphinx: Having the number of first place finishes the highest, then second place the next highest, then third the next highest, etc., this player is justifiably proud of his fighting prowess as he lifts his lordly head to gaze over the desert. 2. The Hyena: The number of second place finishes is highest of all, likely because of a lot of 1-2 truces. The name says it all. 3. The Dromedary: The number of second place finishes is lower than the number of first place finishes or third place finshes. This player tends to avoid 1-2 truces. 4. The Horse: This player has a swaybacked profile, with lower numbers in the middle than at either end, likely because of walking away from tables where he has a bad initial setup. And then, for accountx3, we have a special profile to indicate his state of pre-phoenixhood: 5. The Ostrich: Zeroes for first and second place finishes in the profile. |

at 3:04 PM, Sunday March 25, 2007 EDT Welll, I'm a hyena horse, according to your theory, but, it's wrong. Especially since I HATE 1&2 truces. I can only remember maybe twice of doing so. I got a lot of seconds by achieving 1&second with a truce, or just flagging second. And, the horse comes from bad setups and games, but I will follow through with a game 99.9883758974563957%* of the time

at 6:37 PM, Sunday March 25, 2007 EDT My different accounts tend to develop different "profiles" despite my play being essentially the same. And those profiles also change over time. So I have learned not to read too much into them.

Thanks for your comments. There is room for more research. I will lurk around tables, clipboard in hand, watching behavior of the various "species" in the wild. Could this be done up for the Discovery Channel? egil, try adding your profiles together and see what shape you get. See if your profiles converge to that shape as they get more use. |
